Design and Implementation of Wearable Home Healthcare System

An aging population and sedentary lifestyle are fueling the prevalence of chronic diseases, which highlight the need to design and implement the wearable home healthcare system for continuous physiological parameters monitoring. This presentation will outline the current state and challenges in research and development of wearable home healthcare system. In addition, we will promote a solution to constitute a new means to address the issues of managing and monitoring chronic diseases, elderly people, postoperative rehabilitation patients, and persons with special abilities. Furthermore, a prototype healthcare system is introduced in the presentation which is aiming at realizing long-term monitoring for physiological parameters and providing remote transmission of vital signs, and alarm in case of emergency situation. The continuous advance of wearable sensor-based systems will potentially transform the future of healthcare by enabling proactive personal health management and ubiquitous monitoring of a patient’s health condition.
