Large Scale Collective Sensing and Interaction with Wearable and Mobile System
Abstract: Modern smart phones posses many features of a wearable computer. This includes context awareness, seamless connectivity, always on operation mode, simple augmented reality capabilities and low cognitive load interfaces. Clearly, compared to a "true wearable" even the most advanced smart phones have significant restrictions. However those restrictions are often offset by the advantage of being a wide spread platform which can be leveraged in every day situations.
This advatage opens up new application possibilities in the domain of cooperative sensing and large scale collective phenomena. On the example of work performed in the SOCIONICAL and OPPORTUNITY EU projects the talk will discuss such application and the associated scientific challenges, in particular in the domain of sensing and context recognition.
