Interaction on the Move - Wearable User Interfaces

Abstract: The talk will outline challenges and opportunities in human computer interaction with wearable computer systems. As wearable computing is literally close to the human body new opportunities for creating truly personal and multimodal user interfaces arise. Harvesting information from the user, monitoring activities and actions, as well as unobtrusive and contextual information presenting are examples for implicit interactions that will be discussed in the talk. User interfaces for explicit interaction, such as pointing, text input, and media presentation are facing very different requirements when designed for usage while on the move. In the talk an overview of technologies and approaches for mobile interaction are presented and ideas for future research are discussed.
